I owned several delays through years, both digital and analog but I always kept the Maxon AD999 on my pedalboard.
I use it mainly for leads and solo but also for atmospheric textures with the volume and repeat knobs set pretty high.
It's not a clean delay at all, it adds something to the sound, dare I say an analog "warmth"? Some kind of mojo for sure! The repeated sounds is not clean, a bit saturated actually and it adds a nice texture to your lead tone.
I'll may get a digital delay for clean stuff but I don't think I will abandon my AD999. It sounds great!!
